The countersunk head locking pin is a cylindrical pin that achieves axial locking or loosening between modules and between modules and platforms by rotating the screw head or handle.

1. Structure and Composition of Countersunk Head Locking Pin

The countersunk head locking pin is equipped with five concentric steel balls. When the locking pin thread is loosened, the steel balls automatically retract into the locking body, allowing the pin to be inserted into or pulled out of the round hole of the locked workpiece. During use, the countersunk head locking pin is inserted into the workpiece hole, and the head of the pin is gradually tightened by hand, causing the steel balls to protrude and automatically center and clamp the module. The pin is then further tightened with a wrench, ensuring the tightening force is appropriate (usually the wrench can be turned 45~60°). After tightening, the pin can achieve a clamping force of 50kN and a shearing force of 250kN. Various lengths of countersunk head locking pins are designed for different applications.

The main components of the countersunk head locking pin include the locking body, locking rod, steel balls (or handle), and other components in different structural forms.

2. Basic Classification and Advantages of Countersunk Head Locking Pins

Based on diameter, the pins are divided into two series: D16 and D28. The D16 diameter pin is smaller and suitable for tight operating spaces, offering the same operation method as the larger D28 diameter pin but with greater flexibility. The D28 diameter pin is larger and used for large instruments, providing functionalities that the smaller D16 pin cannot replace.

Additionally, the countersunk head locking pin is used for locking between the platform and accessories, and between accessories, providing advantages such as clamping.

3. Operation Process of Countersunk Head Locking Pin

3.1. At the start of the operation, the steel balls of the pin extend to resist the inner chamfer, achieving a locked state.

3.2. When the steel balls retract, the corresponding contour diameter aperture loosens.

3.3. After completing these steps, the pin is locked in the SW14 hexagon countersunk hole at the top.
